An Outfit That’s Worth a Thousand Words

He walked down the stairs with an accomplished grin. In his hands was a distinct, large silver box with a matching bow draping on top. Awe struck, I was giddy to glimpse inside and soon enough, I deemed him husband of the year. In years past and for most holidays, I deliberately chose my own gifts. However, most recently I handed over the reigns to Brian for Valentine’s Day. He carried out the unexpected – yet did what I had hoped for, which was to peruse the floors of Nordstrom in search of something we would both love. Illustrating admirable judgment, Brian sought the advice of a professional in the department. He further proved his attentiveness when I lifted the lid, gently unfolded the tissue paper and lying before me was a classic, sexy, and perfectly spring outfit.

As I unveiled each piece I knew they would be timeless additions to my capsule wardrobe. Honing in on my style, Brian chose a sleeveless white blouse in which its elegant simplicity could make a statement on its own. The silky fabric flowed beautifully with a deep neckline and dip in the back, that left just enough for the imagination. Its versatility creates endless options: wear it alone, tucked in or out, paired with jeans or skirts and dressed up or down.

Lying over the blouse was a chic, French, navy cardigan, with an eye catching, yet delicate light blue striped pattern. It’s a soft cotton sweater with sleeves ideal for a wrist adorned with bracelets: it made me ready to shed my parka and embrace warmer days.

Last but not least, peeking beneath the tops was a splash of yellow that stole the show. Its color alone should summon the sun and its lovely hue on the tweed fabric was novel, yet ironically classic. As I lifted it in the air, I knew the pencil, knee-length cut would effectuate a slimmer silhouette. It’s accented with two front flap pockets that lie at the smallest part of the waist and holds a weight that creates a smooth transition into spring, yet can be carried through summer months. The more I admired it, the more I swooned.

When I tried on my gift, I couldn’t help but feel feminine and confident. It’s when this attitude radiates from me that my husband finds me most beautiful, so his trip to the department store was a win-win. Now more than ever, my spring fever is kicked into high gear! The dreary skies and rain have overstayed their welcome, yet the sun is still being shy. This will not stop me from slipping into my new ensemble that I love even more as my husband chose it specifically for me.

Nordstrom’s Halogen brand is no foreigner to my wardrobe. Their quality and style have made me a dedicated connoisseur for years. While I stay at home with the kids and some of their designs are reserved for an office setting, with a little creativity and a mindset that regardless my environment, I deserve to look presentable; their pieces prove to be ageless staples with a hint of je ne sais quoi.

Check out their spring collection; you won’t be disappointed and they’ll have you reaching for a bouquet of tulips and a glass of chilled rosé. (I have no affiliation with this brand; I’m just a fan.)   🙂
